Over 80% of solar street lights sold globally are manufactured in China. Quality varies enormously between factories. A pre-shipment inspection by a qualified third party can prevent costly quality failures from reaching your project site.
Solar street lights are complex electro-mechanical systems with multiple components that can fail independently: LED chips, drivers, solar panels, batteries, controllers, and housing. A product that passes visual inspection may still have substandard LED efficacy, undersized battery capacity, or inadequate IP sealing. Pre-shipment inspection by an accredited agency (SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek) provides independent verification before goods leave the factory.
| Component | Test Method | Acceptance Criteria |
|---|---|---|
| LED Efficacy | Integrating sphere measurement | ≥130 lm/W (minimum), ≥150 lm/W (preferred) |
| Battery Capacity | Full charge/discharge cycle | ≥95% of rated capacity |
| IP Rating | Water jet test per IEC 60529 | IP66 minimum, no water ingress |
| Solar Panel Power | Flash test at STC | ≥95% of rated Wp |
| Controller Function | Operational test | All modes functional, correct timing |
Require the following documentation from any solar street light supplier: CE Declaration of Conformity, IEC 62717 test report for LED modules, IEC 62124 test report for the complete system, IP66 test certificate from an accredited laboratory, and battery UN38.3 transport certification.
We support pre-shipment inspections by SGS, Bureau Veritas, and other accredited agencies. All test reports are available on request.
